Global technology company Visteon is expanding its team in Bulgaria, which has been actively developing projects in the field of electromobility since the beginning of 2022. By the end of 2023, the company expects to have almost twice as many Bulgarian engineers working on the electric vehicles of the future at its engineering centre in Sofia, the company's largest in Europe.
They are joining a team with no equivalent in the local market that is developing products for the next generation of electric vehicles that increase capacity, reliability and battery life, contributing to high vehicle efficiency, safety and reliability.
These include the market's first smart battery management systems, efficient electrical power distribution systems that enable high-speed vehicle charging and a so-called "power electronics" three-in-one solution that combines the electric vehicle's charging, power distribution and power conversion systems.
On a regional European level, the development of software, hardware and mechanics for these products is led by Bulgarian engineers. Local specialists are an important part of Visteon's global electro-mobility team and work actively with the company's teams in the US, South America, Asia and Europe.
Electrification projects complement the Bulgarian centre's rich portfolio, which also includes driver assistance products and systems, next-generation smart displays and integrated solutions for optimal mobile vehicle connectivity and driving safety.
The team's expertise in Bulgaria places it among Visteon's most trusted technology hubs globally. Over 800 engineers manage the complete product cycle, with over 250 global and regional high-tech projects designed, developed and tested locally.
In addition to new recruits, the local team passes on its knowledge and experience to the next generation of talent through a number of additional local in-house Visteon academies, the country's specialist universities and vocational schools, and the global software development beginner programme, RISE. Thus locally Visteon has been building and dictating the high level of expertise in automotive electronics for over two decades.
